Elsie Rael, 64, a resident of Questa, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Presbyterian hospital in Albuquerque surrounded by loving family. Born in Questa, New Mexico on October 29,1959. She is preceded in death by her parents Agustin and Precilla Rael; and son-in-law Agapito Martinez.

Elsie is survived by the love of her life for 30 years Felix Quintana, her children Dawn (Frank), Nicole (Frank), Daniel (Shaylyn), Martina (Fernando): 14 grandchildren, Alexis , Francisco, Christine, Esperanza, Miguel, Santana, Zoey, Eli, Sophia, Manuel, Corina, Fernando Jr, Alejandro and Savanah; 1 great-grandson, Matteo; siblings Johnny (Martha), Maryalda, Trini (David), and Andrew (Peggy); God children Jesse, Jessica and Luis, her beloved dog Gizmo, and many nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and all her head start children.

Elsie was a hard-working woman. She worked at the head start as a cook for 20 years. She also worked at several restaurants in Questa. She enjoyed working outside tending to her farm animals and making her yard and flowers beautiful. Elsie had a heart of gold. She was well known for her baked good at the farmers market and her ice cream truck. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandson and her dog Gizmo were her pride and joy. Elsie loved spending time with them. She will be missed dearly and will always be remembered in our hearts.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Presbyterian hospital in Albuquerque ICU for the loving care they provided during this most difficult time in our lives.

Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral of Taos. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11:00am at Living Word Ministries in Questa.
