YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND Chevron Questa Mine Superfund Site Community Meeting, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the New Mexico Environment Department and the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department, invites you to attend the community meeting for the Chevron Questa Superfund site. The meeting will be held:
Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. VFW Post 7688, 2597 North Highway 522 Questa, New Mexico 87556. During the meeting, an update will be provided on current site activities, which will include information on the cover system at the tailing facility, and future cleanup work at the Questa Mine. Following the updates, a question-and-answer session will be open to the public.

The Friendship Circle held its annual meeting on 10/20/24 to revise and set new bylaws and dues. The dues were set as follows: Locals who participate in Friendship Circle: $30 Out of Town Members: $50 Non-Participation Members: $75Grace period for members has changed from 60 days to 30 days. Individuals under age 24 will be covered under parent/ household provider. Ages 24 and up will be required to pay their dues. Disabled and homebound individuals are exempt under their home provider’s dues. Locals who do not participate 3 times in a row with their assigned group will be notified via letter that they will need to pay a $75 non-participation fee. All dues must be paid by December 31 to be active from January-December for the following year. Dues for new members paid after December 31 will have an automatic 30-day waiting period. The Friendship Circle needs cooks and overall participation from membership. There will be a special meeting on November 10 at 1 p.m. at the Questa VFW to elect a Vice President.


Questa Senior Center Lunches. Lunches are no longer served to-go. Lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m. and the recommended donation is upward of $1.50 each. Questa Senior Center, 148 Embargo Rd, Questa. Call (575) 586-0508 for more information.
