Oclides “Okie” Velasquez, age 84, of Questa, passed peacefully on March 4, 2025, surrounded in the embrace of her family. Okie is survived by her loving family; son, Ken; grandchildren Julia, Kenny, and Jon; great-grandson Lyle; sister Bernice.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tito and son, Lawrence “Chopo”; parents Bernardo and Ruperta Trujillo; and beloved brothers and sisters Fred, Patricio, David, Manuel “Manjo,” Ofelia, and Pearl. Okie was born in Taos on January 2, 1941. Okie was well known in the community and had many close friends through her time working in Red River. Her memory will forever live on with her beloved family and friends.
