A new wellness business in Red River is aiming to help visitors and residents recover from altitude sickness, recharge with nutritional drinks and, eventually, access hydration therapy and aesthetic services.
Red River Renewal, located at 321 E. Main St., opened Memorial Day weekend with a mix of oxygen therapy, massage chairs, nutritional teas and a brunch café, owner Teria Solomon said. Solomon, a travel nurse who recently relocated to Red River from Fairhope, Alabama, said the idea for the business grew out of personal experience after a winter family vacation in the mountain town.
“Half of my family got sick with altitude sickness,” Solomon said. “It took about four days off of our vacation because of my family being sick.” After learning the nearest hospital was nearly an hour away and smaller clinics in the area were often overwhelmed, Solomon said she saw an opportunity to provide wellness services geared toward helping people feel better during their stay.
“We wanted to create an area where, if someone wasn’t feeling well, they could come in and relax,” she said. “Sit in a massage chair, get oxygen therapy, IV therapy.” While the business is still working toward offering IV hydration services, Solomon said Red River Renewal has pivoted to include a small café and brunch menu while awaiting approvals. The business currently offers an oxygen bar with aromatherapy, where customers can relax in massage chairs during sessions. Solomon said hydration IV therapy is planned for the future.
Red River Renewal also sells nutritional teas made with stevia and plant-based caffeine. Solomon said the drinks contain 17 grams of protein, less than one gram of sugar and about 120 calories per 32-ounce serving. In addition to wellness services, the business carries a proprietary skincare line developed for Red River Renewal. Products include moisturizers, vitamin C treatments, retinol products and facial cleansers.
Looking ahead, Solomon said she hopes to expand into aesthetic services, including microneedling and other cosmetic offerings. “We’re trying to figure out ways that we can offer things that the town does not have,” Solomon said. The café serves brunch daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Solomon said the wellness and retail side of the business is expected to operate beyond café hours until 7 p.m. Red River Renewal is located at 321 E. Main St. in Red River. More information is available at RedRiverRenewal.com.
