Red River Brewery & Distillery has earned the No. 4 spot on USA TODAY’s 10Best list of Best Craft Vodka, marking the fifth consecutive year the New Mexico distillery has ranked among the nation’s top five.
The annual award recognizes 10 of the country’s top craft vodkas, with winners selected through public voting by readers of USA TODAY and 10Best.com.
The latest recognition adds to the growing list of honors for Silver King Vodka, the distillery’s signature spirit, which has received 17 national awards. Those accolades include a double-gold medal and a Best of Class award from the American Distilling Institute.
Made with mountain snowmelt water from Red River, Silver King Vodka is distilled at an elevation of 8,750 feet, making the facility one of the highest-elevation distilleries in the world.
Head distiller Gavin Whealy said the distillery’s water source and high-altitude production process contribute to the vodka’s flavor profile.
“Our pristine water and low-temperature distillation, made possible at this elevation, continues to give Silver King Vodka its smooth and subtle flavor profile,” Whealy said. “Winning five years in a row is a testament to the consistent quality of our product and the passion of our hard-working team.”
Michael Calhoun, owner of Red River Brewery & Distillery, credited customers and supporters for helping the business earn continued national recognition.
“Five years in a row!” Calhoun said. “We are honored, year after year, by the support and patronage of our fans and customers. We’re passionate about crafting high-quality spirits and deeply grateful for this award.”
