A View from the Top of the Christmas Tree

Picture this: a fresh-cut Christmas tree from the Questa Ranger District standing tall in our high-ceilinged reception area—its branches reaching out like it’s trying to hug everyone in the library. The scent of pine mingles with the quiet rustle of pages, and suddenly, the library feels like a forest of stories.

From my imaginary perch at the very top of that tree, I see traditions old and new weaving together like garlands. There’s the timeless joy of curling up with A Christmas Carol, and right beside it, the modern sparkle of streaming holiday playlists and QR codes linking to festive reading lists. Popcorn strings may have given way to LED lights, but the heart of the season—connection, kindness, and shared stories—still shines brightest.

So, whether you’re baking Grandma’s biscochitos or stopping off at Rael’s Market for a Carmel Apple Latte, remember to embrace your traditions. From the top of the tree, the view is clear—there’s room in our lives for something old (traditions), new ideas, and maybe even something borrowed from the library.
