Freedom Center Church in Questa will be expanding into childcare service in collaboration with ¡Inspire! Bilingual Early Learning Center in Taos. The childcare service will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for children six weeks old to 36 months. Freedom Church will focus on “Christian bilingual education in a safe and welcoming environment,” said Pastor Kristi Gonzales in e-mail communication with Questa del Rio News.
Gonzales met Taylor Etchemendy of ¡Inspire! Taos along with her mother, Tracy, back in 2017 or 2018 over a cup of coffee at Koko’s Cafe in Taos, and she was inspired by their work. The collaboration is still in its preliminary phase, but Gonzales hopes to start providing childcare service to Questa before the end of the year. She plans on hiring between 4 to 6 people, local to Questa, who are trained in childcare services as well as passionate about the profession.
Questa del Rio News inquired about the concept of Christian bilingual education. “We will create an environment that immerses toddlers in Spanish vocabulary and offers a variety of age-appropriate Biblical teachings using music and stories,” said Gonzales.
