We would like to introduce the new history teacher at Questa Junior-Senior High School. Please welcome Flora Buerger.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a geographer and have a teaching endorsement in social studies. My master’s degree is in secondary education, and I currently teach grades 7-11. This is my fourth year in the classroom. I worked for a National Estuary Program as an environmental educator, as well as the University of Texas Marine Science Institute as coordinator of a science education program, and as a research assistant in the marine botany lab.
What made you want to teach in Questa?
I grew up in Latir (my parents are Henry Berger and Melissa Caylor). I love the beauty that surrounds Questa. I got the opportunity to move my family during the COVID-19 shutdown, so I took advantage and am so glad I did! I really enjoy living here.
It means the most to me when the parents of my students…reach out with any concerns, so we can work through good things and the challenges of learning.
It means the most to me when my students….are happy and having a good day learning and being with their friends.
