OBITUARY: Almira Fabiola Torrez

d. February 10, 2024

Almira Fabiola Tórrez, 81, of Arroyo Seco, passed away on Saturday, February, 2024 following a prolonged illness. In the 1970s, she moved to California but returned to her beloved New Mexico in 1981, where she lived ever since. Fab was involved with her community. She was a member of the Optimist Club of Taos.

She was a member of both the Arroyo Seco and Taos Guadalupanas Societies. Additionally, she completed the Chimayo Pilgrimage multiple times. She is remembered by friends for her sharp sense of humor. Close friend Sandra Vigil recalled mistaking her for a nun the first time they met. Fab replied, “Wait until you get to know me!” She lived life on her own terms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Torrez, parents Euralia and Donaciano Torres, and son Daniel Torrez. She adored her dogs Pi (deceased) and Roxy. She is survived by her daughters Christine Torrez and Juliette Torrez; grandchildren Autumn Reid and Fabián Tórrez. Family, dear friends, and many other relatives will miss her smile and company. The family thanks Mountain Home Health Care for taking care of her in her final days. Rosary will be recited on Thursday March 7, 2024, at 9 am followed by the funeral mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Private burial will take place. The family of Almira Fabiola Torrez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
