Dr. Charlie Anderson

OBITUARY: Charlie Anderson

d. Oct. 14, 2026

Charlie Anderson, 93, passed away peacefully at his home from natural causes on October 14, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edy Anderson; stepson, Richard Wiard; daughter-in-law, Leslie Wiard; and granddaughters, Keri and Amy Wiard.

He is survived by his partner, Judy Lockwood; children Chauncey, Gingy, and Finlay Anderson, and Barb, Tom, Rob, and Ted Wiard, and their partners. He also shared his love and pride with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlie will be remembered by his many dear friends and the community he considered family. His commitment to humanistic pediatrics left a lasting impact throughout New Mexico, and his legacy as a community pediatrician will continue for generations.

Charlie and Edy arrived in Taos with their children in 1976. Through hard work and dedication to the community, they founded Taos Clinic for Children and Youth, where Charlie became affectionately known to many as “Doc.” There, he fulfilled his passion for caring for children and their families as a local pediatrician.

In addition to his involvement in multiple professional organizations, Charlie consistently supported the Taos Community Foundation and Golden Willow Retreat, both of which became important institutions within the community. His love of service, the outdoors, skiing, tennis, golf, family, and community made him a cherished presence throughout Taos and beyond.

One of Charlie’s final remarks reflected his gratitude for a life well lived: “I am grateful to look back at this age and know it was all worth it.”

In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s honor will be appreciated at Golden Willow Retreat, P.O. Box 569, Arroyo Hondo, NM 87513 (www.goldenwillowretreat.org), or Taos Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1925, Taos, NM 87571 (www.taoscf.org).

A memorial service is being planned for March 2027.
The family of Charles Anderson entrusted Rivera Family Funeral Home with the honor of serving them.
