OBITUARY: Katrina Moriah Sanchez

d. Aug 3, 2026

Katrina Moriah Sanchez age 37, a resident of Sanford, CO passed away July 30, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her sister Bowina Burback; grandparents Eloy & Beatrice Ortiz, and Ben & Claudina Sanchez; godmother Darlene Ortiz.


Moriah was a beautiful soul who knew how to love unconditionally and brighten the hearts of everyone she encountered. She always made it a point to say hello to people that she knew everywhere she would encounter them. Moriah would even greet strangers with a warm smile and a genuine hello. Moriah will definitely be remembered by the way she laughed, made people laugh and never left her families home without saying “I love you”. Moriah made so many memories with family members and friends. There are not enough words to express the impact she had on the lives of others. She will truly be missed by many, but her legacy will never be forgotten. She completed the work of the Lord and now He has called her home.


Moriah was a Licensed Massage Therapist and was the first female to join the Costilla Volunteer Fire Department. She graduated from Centauri High School in 2007, after that she attended and graduated from Trinidad State Junior College with a Certificate in Cosmetology and Massage Therapy. Her hobbies include camping, hunting, watching movies with her girls and spending time with her family, all which she loved so much.


She is survived by her daughters Nevaeh Sanchez, Mikala Sanchez and Trinity Miera; father Jerry B. Sanchez, mother Anabelle Maes; siblings Kimberly Baroz (Joseph), Dennis Maes, Leslie Maes (Floyd Martinez); half sister and brother, Sedonia Herrera (Lewis) and Andamo Sanchez.


Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:00am, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla, with burial to follow at the Costilla Cemetery.


Serving as Pallbearers, Joseph Baroz, Dathan Baroz, Isiah Quintana, Carlos Arellano, Timothy Ortiz and Leon Duran; Honorary Bearers are, Philbert Quintana, Chantelle Maes, Gabriella Quintana, Erica Padilla, Britany Ortiz, Bianca Vigil and Nicole Sanchez.


The family of Katrina Moriah Sanchez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the caring staff of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
