OBITUARY: Lino A. Garcia

d. June 2, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Lino A. Garcia, 62, on June 2, 2025.

Lino is preceded in death by his father, Lino E. Garcia; his brother, James A. Garcia; nephew, Christopher G. Garcia; and brother-in-law, James Chang. He is survived by his loving mother, Viola H. Garcia; siblings, Brandi Garcia-Chang, Carol Ortega, and Sandra Garcia-Aline; children, Ryan Garcia and Mariah Garcia (Courtney); and grandchildren, Adian and Serinity Garcia.

He is also survived by his Padrino, Ray Herrera (Delores); nephews, Adam Garcia (Sonya), Derek Ortega (Lynette), Joseph Aline (Julia); nieces, Jessica Garcia (Joshua), Chanel Clark (John), Santana Rael (Kiko); many aunts, uncles, cousins; and his beloved dog, Rosco.

Lino retired from the National Park Service in 2022. Prior to his 12-year career there, he worked in the construction industry, served as a wildland firefighter, received certification in specialized fields from Santa Fe Community College, and was a cast member in the motion picture Wild Hogs.

He was highly skilled in the art of carpentry. His signature designs are recognizable by his use of copper, intricate carvings, and, at times, eagles. His love of eagles symbolized the freedom he lived.

Lino had a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished the beauty of God’s masterful designs, from breathtaking views and peaceful sceneries to stunning landscapes. His journey took him throughout the United States. Most notable were Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Grand Canyon NP, Cabrillo National Monument, Yosemite NP, and the Million Dollar Highway.

He embarked on memorable camping trips and unforgettable motorcycle adventures with his closest friends: Vince Ortega, Lynne Padilla, Raymond Martinez, Barbara Lopez, Gerard Otero, Margie Jacquez, and Anthony & Sandra Ortiz-and his cherished family members, James Herrera, Norman Garcia, and his dear brother, James.

In memory of a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend whose life touched those who walked through the ups and downs of his past and present life journey: you will be truly missed and forever remembered. We honor you with one of your favorite Bible passages: Isaiah 40:29, 31

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not be faint..

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
