Red River Brewery Highlights Questa del Rio News In Monthly Charity Program

Red River Brewery & Distillery recognized Questa del Rio News as its featured nonprofit for the month of May through its ongoing “Hops for Happiness” program—a monthly initiative that supports local causes by encouraging patrons to round up their bills for charity.

The fundraised monies collected through this initiative will go to support the independent newspaper and its dedication to community journalism and civic engagement, particularly in rural areas like northern Taos County. Funds raised in May will help Questa del Rio News continue providing free, accessible news and live streaming of local government meetings.

“Local journalism is essential for informed communities, especially in places where people are working multiple jobs and can’t always attend council meetings,” says Editor Mikayla Ortega of Questa del Rio News. “We are grateful for the Brewery working to partner with us toward our mission of serving our residents.”

“Hops for Happiness” donates a portion of monthly sales and customer contributions to a different local nonprofit each month. For June, Red River Valley Charter School received the funds to support student educational field trips. July’s beneficiary will be the Red River Public Library.

The brewery, known for its small-batch beers and mountain-town hospitality, launched the program to strengthen community ties, one pint at a time.
