Welcome to the Questa Art Tour (QAT) Preview Show! The Questa Public Library is happy to host this local artist’s favorite show kicking off with a public Art Opening on Jul. 18. Artists from the QAT will display a piece of their artwork which will help visitors know what to look for during the actual art tour on Aug. 8 and 9. Work will include digital imagery, painting, pottery, jewelry, printmaking, glasswork, quilting and much, much more. The show prides itself on showcasing traditional styles like wood working, pottery and painting to artworks honoring the environment or exploring abstraction or modern contemporary styles.
What can be said about the Questa Art Tour that hasn’t already been said before? Is it that the tour is the first artist tour of the season in Northern New Mexico or the uniqueness of the tour which blends traditional, modern and contemporary arts? Maybe it is the fun of finding the locations of the artists hubs? Studios are sometimes challenging to find but well worth it as most often they are full of art, charm and authenticity. QAT hubs offer the visitor small groupings of artists in personal artist’s studios. The visitors can see actual places where art is created and also see multiple artists at each location offering exciting and often festive environments.
Get your first glimpse of the tour. Stop by the QAT Preview Show at the Questa Public Library! Have a cookie and meet the artists at the opening on Jul. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop in during the tour dates of Aug. 8 and 9 to find your favorite artists locations and plan your visits to their studios. Brochures and maps will be provided. The QAT Preview Show will run through Aug. 13. See you soon at the Questa Public Library and 6 1/2 Municipal Park Road in Questa, NM. I paint the Southwest because I love the land! Being raised in the country, I have a strong tie to it. It’s a sense of deep emotions, of memory, and of history. While I am painting, I try to capture the feeling of the place, what is all around me: the smells, what I hear, and what I see – a complete picture.
My abstracts represent “My Other Side.” I play with emotions through color, shapes, and energy to make playful compositions.
