From New Mexico Game and Fish
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has many educational programs. By far, the most popular is Hunter Education. Students 10 years of age and older can take their course online: courses may be found here https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/education/hunter-education/.
For those seeking in-person classes, a course schedule can be found here: https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/education/hunter-education/course-schedule/ Classes are typically held by volunteers and department staff, with the peak occurring in the months of February and March. Bowhunter Education classes are also offered and can be found in the above links. Hunter Education camps may also be found on the department’s public website on the first link above. Off-highway vehicle (OHVs) operators may find a course schedule here: https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/ohv/ohv-education/ for any training opportunities. Chris Johnson is the OHV Educator and can be reached at (505) 239-1092.
School groups, clubs, and organizations interested in fishing opportunities may contact the Sportfishing Education Coordinator, Dennis Segura, at (505) 946-8733. And if groups are interested in a wildlife presentation where specimens include hides, horns, antlers, and skulls, they are encouraged to contact the conservation education manager, Storm Usrey at (505) 490-1095.
National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is very popular in New Mexico. The Archery Program manager is Bruce Atencio at (505) 467-9929.
