Lorena Ortega, age 82, a resident of Questa, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Ortega, of 36 years; her eldest son, Kenneth (Kenny) Ortega; her parents, Finian and Edumenia Cisneros; her siblings, Ted Cisneros, Emilia (Chona) Garcia, Mary Ortega; and Meliquias Martinez, whom she considered a brother.

Lorena was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who will be greatly missed by her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

She is survived by her children, Gary Ortega, Daryl Ortega, and Valerie Ortega-Gurule (Richy); her grandchildren, Alexy Gurule, Rianna Ortega, and Jacob Ortega; her great-grandchildren, Adrian Montoya and Aurielle Montoya; her siblings, Louella Maestas (Eloy †), Clyde Cisneros (Ruby), Modesto Cisneros (Rosie), Gera Jaramillo (Andy), Doris Gonzales (Hector), and Cindy Rivera (Larry); as well as many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and cherished friends.

A Rosary was recited on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, followed by a burial at El Pueblito Cemetery.
The family of Lorena Ortega has entrusted the care of their loved one to the caring staff of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
