Modesto Cisneros, Korean War corporal and medic, was born in June, 1929 in Questa, the third of 10 brothers (eight of whom are veterans). On November 2, the Taos Quilt and Fiber Arts Guild, represented by Josie Innis, came to his home and awarded Modesto his Quilt of Valor, for serving our country and for having been “touched by war.” The family surrounded him. Josie commented, “Prayers and bits of thankfulness have been sewn into these quilts. Use and display it as a badge of honor. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
