A Chapter Closes for Beloved Frank’s Eatsand Sweets Restaurant

Owner Frank Rael held a big closing weekend using social media to announce his final days in business, and showcased the sweets and baked goods available for purchase one last time before the restaurant’s closure on Feb. 17.

Rael’s business first opened in October 2017, as covered by our publication. His 4.7 rating on Google is a clear indication of the tasty food quality that Frank’s Eats and Sweets was known for.

A few reviews highlighted the unique menu items, tried-and-true to Rael’s authentic cooking and creative style. Reviews often mention the impressive pastries guaranteed to make your mouth water, and often raved about the colossal size of the delicious cream puffs and turnovers.

Another similarly consistent compliment was about Frank himself, the owner who poured his heart and soul into the dishes, pastries, and advertising. His sisters were constantly seen at the restaurant working to keep the business running.

Rael always personally served the dishes to the people dining in at his restaurant. He also provided bulk orders of tamales, chili, cookies, and cakes for people to enjoy over their holiday get-togethers. He was charitable and would give away cakes and meals to the local school students and sports teams to celebrate and encourage their successes.

Rael’s creations have been sewn into so many special moments, events, holidays, and celebrations for the entire northern New Mexico region—his thoughtful care and precision work
in the kitchen has been a part of the stories and lives of people here for nearly a decade.
During his closing days, Rael posted photos of sweet treats including chocolate-dipped strawberries, cream puffs, cookies, and the popular churro cream puff. In the comments, many people shared their sadness over his business closing.

In his final post on the closing weekend, Rael says the last order was Cheesecake Stuffed and Chocolate Dip Strawberries dipped in toasted almonds and coconuts. “And it’s all over,” the post read.
The community will undoubtedly miss Frank’s Eats and Sweets. We wish Frank Rael much peace and joy as he heads into retirement.
