QUESTA, N.M. — Alta Vista school volunteers spent Saturday, Jan. 28, collecting money for a January Boot Drive to benefit Alta Vista School students. Volunteer firefighters from Questa and Cerro Fire Departments were present, assisting with the collection by providing safety vests and traffic control.
The money raised will directly assist students with an end-of-year field trip, according to Questa Fire & EMS Facebook page. “Please know that we are only there to assist in this process and this shouldn’t be confused by our Annual Boot Drive,” the Facebook page went on to say.
Principal Elaine Romero could be seen shouting, “for spring field trips” and “for student field trips” while generous drivers were holding cash outside their driver-side window as they passed the mainstreet intersection.
“We’ve racked up almost $2,000,” said Principal Romero at about 2:20 pm. The boot drive ran from noon to 3 pm.
