SPRING

Spring is as powerful a time astrologically as it is seasonally. Aries, our first zodiacal sign, therefore the first Cardinal (leadership qualities), Fire, and Positive (in yin yang terms) sign sets the tone for the year of what these modalities are all about. It ushers in spring with an exuberant rush of blossoming, mating, nesting, and greening. But it is Taurus who maintains what Aries started. Now we settle into assuring the nesting is completed and the blossoming will eventually yield fruit. Taurus is our first Earth, Fixed (reliable and steady) and Negative sign, and like Aries, is our strongest example of these modalities. Without this maintenance part of nature nothing born would survive. Gemini will then follow as the ending of spring. Its modalities of Mutable (flexible and easy-going), Air and once again Positive will bring to fruition all that spring is meant to be.
So important are these three phases of spring that we celebrate them with worldwide festivals. The first one we call Easter and includes the Christian celebration of rebirth, demonstrating the quality of the eternal self which is in everyone. Next, the Wesak Festival celebrates Buddha and is considered the highest point of the year for esoteric folk, while the third festival during Gemini is the Festival of Goodwill, and celebrates humanity’s potential for duality to be resolved. Wesak occurs this month, marking the moment in the year when the highest spiritual energies pour into the world and empower those who work in alignment with Divine purpose. It is a time which represents East and West coming together, but this year, 2025 especially, this festival is to launch the dawn of a new cycle of spiritual effort. We have come through the lessons of the crucifixion and the resurrection and recognized that the lower nature must die in order that the higher may manifest and the eternal immortal soul must rise from the tomb of matter. Now, Buddha and the Christ come together to radiate blessings out to the world in unification.
