Create-A-Space, a collaboration of the Questa Public Library, Youth Heartline, and Twirl, presented a three-Friday series for our kids in March and April. Recognizing that everyone needs a space they can call their own, filled with what makes them feel safe, happy, content, or cozy, the Twirl team helped attending children identify what they need in their space to make them feel safe, happy, content or cozy. Leading them to create that very space in their own lives.

Fifteen children and their families created small-scale diorama boxes, through which STEAM modalities (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) were used.. This fun project is STEAM with social-emotional learning all wrapped up in a nice box!

The small-scale model also involved activating the following disciplines in education: design principles, iteration thinking, technology with moving parts and lights, engineering principles to work through the structure artistically and creatively.
