Gearing Up For Fiestas de Questa On June 21

The Village of Questa is preparing for the return of a beloved community tradition—Fiestas de Questa—with a one-day celebration set for Saturday, June 21, from noon to 10 p.m. at the MolyCorp Fields.
The revival of the Fiestas in 2023 brought together locals and visitors alike for a heartfelt celebration of culture, faith, and northern New Mexico heritage. Much excitement is already building for this year’s event. Organizers say the 2025 Fiestas will once again focus on community spirit, live entertainment, traditional foods, and honoring the Village of Questa.

“This event is all about bringing people together,” said Councilwoman Katrina Gonzales, one of the event’s main organizers. “It’s a time to celebrate our culture, support local businesses, and reconnect as a community.”
Currently, organizers are seeking musicians and vendors who would like to be part of the festivities. Whether you’re a band, solo artist, food vendor, or artisan, there’s an open invitation to participate. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Councilwoman Gonzales directly at kgonzales@villageofquesta.org for more information and to reserve a spot.

The Fiestas will feature live music throughout the day, local crafts, family-friendly activities, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy a variety of local food vendors. Last year’s revival saw a full lineup of Norteño, mariachi, and folk musicians, and organizers are aiming to build on that momentum with a diverse musical program that reflects the community’s roots.

In keeping with tradition, the Fiestas will also include the selection of the Reina (queen)—a time-honored role for local young women who represent the values and spirit of the village. Any young women interested in running for Reina are invited to call Maria Gonzalez for more details on the competition. The Reina is often seen as a community ambassador and plays a visible role during the event and in other civic activities throughout the year.
The celebration will culminate in the evening with dancing, food, and a strong sense of unity. While this year’s event is being held on a single day, organizers say they are exploring ways to expand the event in the future, depending on community interest and volunteer involvement.

The Fiestas have deep roots in Questa and throughout northern New Mexico, historically serving as a celebration of faith, family, and agricultural life. The event faded for several years but its recent revival met with great success, thanks in large part to local volunteers, the support of the village council, and the enthusiasm of long-term residents.

As the June 21 date approaches, organizers will release a full schedule of events, musical acts, and vendors. For now, the call is out for local talent and community support to make this year’s Fiestas another memorable gathering.

“This is something that belongs to all of us,” said Gonzales. “We hope everyone comes out and celebrates together.”
