Red River Gears Up For Mayfest In The Mountains

Red River is set to welcome residents and visitors alike for its second annual Mayfest in the Mountains celebration, a four-day Memorial Day weekend event, filled with music, family activities, and a heartfelt tribute to veterans.

The festivities begin Friday, May 23, with the 9 a.m. opening ceremony of the Wall of Honor at the Red River Conference Center. The tribute will remain open through Monday, offering guests a space to reflect and honor those who have served.

Carnival rides, bounce houses, food vendors, recreational booths, and daily games will take place in Brandenburg Park through Sunday, at the heart of the celebration. The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ Wonders on Wheels Mobile Exhibit will also be featured from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The full schedule of events is as follows

Friday, May 23

  • 9 – 10 a.m.: Opening Ceremony for veterans’ Wall of Honor, Red River Conference Center
  • 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Wall of Honor open to the public, Red River Conference Center
  • 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: in Brandenburg Park
    • Bounce houses
    • Cornhole game
    • Recreational booths
    • Food vendors
    • Carnival rides
    • Other family fun activities
    • Wonders on Wheels Mobile Exhibit by NM Dept. of Cultural Affairs
    • Live music by Michael Smith

Saturday, May 24

  • 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Wall of Honor, Red River Conference Center
  • 10 a.m.: Cornhole tournament, Brandenburg Park
  • 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: in Brandenburg Park
