Holy Cross Hospital will host its third annual Veterans Day celebration next month, inviting Taos County veterans to gather for a free brunch in honor of their service.
The “Brunch With the Bravest” event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 8 in the Wheeler Peak Cafeteria at Holy Cross Hospital. Organizers expect another strong turnout after nearly 65 veterans attended last year’s meal.
The brunch will be catered by the hospital’s dietary staff, who are preparing a special menu as a gesture of appreciation. The event has become a tradition for local veterans to reconnect, share stories and enjoy time together during the holiday.
Holy Cross Hospital employs more than 560 people, including 15 veterans who continue their service through healthcare. Hospital leaders said the event reflects their ongoing commitment to supporting veterans as both staff members and patients.
“As a veteran, I am proud that Holy Cross is hosting this event for the third year in a row. I wanted to make sure that Holy Cross recognized not only the employees that are veterans, but also veterans in our community,” said Vivian Santistevan, Major, U.S. Army (Retired), and the hospital’s chief of human resources.
Santistevan said the gathering offers veterans a chance to connect across branches of service and generations.
“This is truly a community event where you see old friends, eat a delicious meal and connect with fellow veterans. Please come and join us,” she said.
Holy Cross began accepting TriWest Veterans Health Care two years ago, expanding access to medical services for veterans in the region.
All Taos County veterans are invited to attend the brunch and are asked to bring proof of service for recognition.
