The Taos County Historical Society (TCHS) is pleased to host Victor “Vito” Trujillo Jr., a distinguished Taos native, award-winning musician, producer, and DJ, for a special folklore presentation, “The Music of Northern New Mexico.”
Born in Los Alamos in March 1975 to Linda and Victor (Vito) Trujillo, Vito Jr.’s lifelong commitment to music began at the age of eight, when his father first taught him to play the guitar. By age 11, he was already performing professionally, joining his father in the band “Vito Y Alan” (1986 to 2000). He further honed his skills as part of the Taos High School Mariachi group (1990 to 1993).
Today, Trujillo continues to carry on his musical heritage. He is a key member of the “Time Machine Band,” performing throughout Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico since 2006. As an independent artist, producer, and songwriter, he founded Adobe Records in 2004, relaunching the record label originally created by his father in 1973. His diverse musical influences span traditional Northern New Mexico, Mariachi, Tejano, Blues, Jazz, and Rock. Beyond performing, Trujillo is a dynamic radio DJ for NewMex Radio, a role that earned him the prestigious 2023 Mark Ipiotis Award (DJ of the Year) from the New Mexico Hispanic Music Association (NMHMA).
Attendees will hear directly from this influential figure about the broad genres and rich family history that have shaped his unique sound.
Trujillo’s lecture will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Kit Carson Co-op Board Room at 118 Cruz Alta Rd. Taos, NM 87571.
Admission to TCHS Lectures is Free for Members. The lecture is available to the general public for a requested $5 Donation. Please note that Admission is “first-come, first-Served” to the Maximum Capacity of 80, mandated by the Town of Taos Fire Department.
