Library To Reopen, Summer Programs Begin June 6

After months of repairs and a temporary relocation, the Questa Public Library is preparing to reopen its doors to the public. A plumbing incident on Feb. 3 had rendered parts of the building unusable earlier this year and it had to be closed.

The library has been operating out of the adjacent Family & Youth Center since Feb. 3, after the incident forced staff to vacate the main facility. Thanks to support from the Village administration, the Paul Davis Company, and the library’s insurance provider, renovations are now complete.

While many of the improvements—such as new flooring and drywall—won’t be immediately visible, visitors will notice fresh carpeting, vibrant paint, and a renewed atmosphere. Library staff said they are excited to welcome patrons back and plan to announce a grand reopening event soon. Details will be shared via flyers, email and social media.

In addition to the reopening celebration, the library will kick off its annual Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” on June 6.

The program runs through July 18 and is open to children ages 4 to 10. Sessions will be held Tuesday and Friday mornings and will include storytelling and interactive activities. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up by contacting the library directly.

As part of its summer programming, the library will also host a special author event featuring Anne Hillerman. The bestselling author will present her newest novel, “Shadow of the Solstice,” and meet with readers on June 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Library officials said they are looking forward to reconnecting with the community and starting this next chapter with fresh programs, a refreshed space, and a renewed commitment to service.

The official opening date will be posted on the Questa Library social media page. Additionally, the library is looking for a part-time assistant. They’re looking to find someone w

ho will help in fostering a love of reading and lifelong learning for patrons.
