Local Catholics end Lent with the traditional 20-mile pilgrimage

April 7 was Good Friday and locals and visitors alike joined together to walk the traditional 20-mile pilgrimage from Costilla to Questa. Caminantes (walkers) walked in silent reflection and prayer, sang songs, and prayed together as the guia (cross) led them through their journey.

The walkers stopped in Cerro at the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church (Our Lady of Guadalupe) where they recited the Stations of the Cross. Additional walkers joined the group to make the remainder of the journey into Questa. They arrived in Questa a little after noon and the community greeted caminantes (walkers) in an encuentro (welcoming), after praying for a safe trip for them through their journey. ¡Que Viva Cristo Rey
