Localogy Named Taos Community Foundation Nonprofit of the Year

Localogy is a collaborative network of grassroots organizations focused on building community resilience in northern New Mexico, has been honored as the Taos Community Foundation’s Nonprofit of the Year. The non-profit is led by Executive Director Daniel Hutchison.

The group supports a wide range of community-led programs centered on youth development, local food systems, animal welfare, the arts and cultural preservation. Localogy leaders say their mission is to help move communities from passive consumption toward actively producing local livelihoods and culture.

“Our community faces challenges that are multifaceted and pervasive,” the organization said in a statement. “Resilient solutions are best achieved through a holistic systems approach.”

Localogy serves as a cross-sector hub for charitable initiatives, pooling administrative support so program leaders can focus on direct impact. The model enables grassroots projects to develop organically and respond quickly to local needs, the organization said.

Among the initiatives operating under Localogy’s umbrella are the Sangre de Cristo Youth Ranch, a farm and wilderness-based summer camp; Vida Camp, which offers summer programming for youth in Questa; and QuestaActive, a youth sports league. Other efforts include the Sala Reach arts and wellness program, the Questa Farmers Market, and Casas de Cultura, a center for creativity and community connection.

The network also supports projects such as Questa Stories, an oral history and storytelling initiative; Land Experience and Art of Place, an interdisciplinary arts effort; High Desert Hounds, which assists vulnerable dogs in Taos County; the Food Forest Movement of Taos, which encourages mutual-aid food forestry; and Cultivo, a program growing a resilient local food system.

The Taos Community Foundation annually recognizes nonprofits that show exceptional dedication to improving life in Taos County. Localogy officials said the award reflects the strength and creativity of the residents who guide its programs.
“We are incredibly proud of the work happening across our projects,” the statement said. “Every initiative is driven by local people building solutions for their own communities.”
