The Millicent Rogers Museum in El Prado, New Mexico will open its 20th Anniversary Miniatures Show and Sale on February 5, 2022. More than 120 artists from Taos and Rio Arriba Counties have created small-scale works in ceramic, oil, acrylic, watercolor, silver, steel, wood, photography, and mixed media. Each year, the museum and community artists join forces to produce the “Minis” show. The show ends on March 6.
The exhibition began in 2003 as both a museum fundraiser and an opportunity to support Taos County artists during the winter season—a quieter time in the area. Entries come from artists early in their careers to those far into the profession. The common denominator of size (2- and 3-d artworks have a scale limit of 100 inches in height x width) allows for a larger quantity of works than for an average exhibition.
A Best of Show and Best of Division (2-d, 3-d, and jewelry) award will be announced by the MRM Board of Trustees during the Preview Party, a ticketed event on Friday, February 4. People’s Choice Awards (in the same categories will be announced on Monday, February 7—museum visitors may cast their votes on opening weekend.
