OBITUARY: Manuel Romero

d. March 26, 2025

Manuel Antonio Romero, 68, of Questa, was called back home into the Lord’s loving arms on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife of 49 years, his two remaining sons, Gilbert and Marcos, and his family. He was born on August 17, 1956 in Taos, NM to Octaviano and Nepumosena Romero. Manuel lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

Manuel poured his heart into everything he did, always striving to provide for his family and help those in need. He was a man who never hesitated to lend a hand, give a word of encouragement, or share his warmth with those around him.

Above all, Manuel loved, cherished, and dedicated his life to his wife, children, and loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love knew no bounds. His presence brought comfort and strength, and his laughter filled every room.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife Joyce; his son Gilbert, his youngest son Marcos (Jessica); his grandchildren Audrea Chavez (Marcus), Darienne Trujillo, Derrick Trujillo (Yasmine); great-grandchildren Marika, Jacob and Easton Chavez, Camila Cabanas, Aliana Mandonado; siblings Frank Romero (Grace) Geraldine Santistevan, Lucy Rael (Sito), Rose Romero (Gilbert), Elmer Romero (Deborah), Virginia Valencia (Merlin) and Tammy Romero, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Octaviano and Nepumosena; his eldest son Manuelito (Lito) A. Romero (Christina Sanchez); and brothers Joe Romero, Rudy Romero (Betty), Ernest Romero, and Berlinda Hernandez (Catalino).

Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rosary was recited on Thursday, April 10, 2025 followed by the Mass of Christian burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa, with burial following at El Pueblito Cemetery.
