We obtained data from Mayor John Ortega on the Questa Police Department’s stats for the first quarter of the year.
By the Numbers:
- As of April 2023, the Village of Questa Police Department responded to approximately 1,400 calls for service within the Village of Questa.
- QPD conducted approximately 600 traffic stops.
- Over 20 arrests have been made, including arrests for narcotics infractions, domestic violence, and other violent felonies and misdemeanor offenses.
- 11 arrests have been made for driving under the influence (DUI).
- 10 arrests have been made for outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
- At least 7 cases have been handled where QPD has obtained arrest warrants for infractions that have occurred within village limits and the offender has been arrested in other jurisdictions.
Personnel:
- Recently, Village of Questa Police Chief Ronald G. Montez was nominated as the Chair of the Taos County DWI council.
- All officers currently employed by the Village of Questa Police Department are certified and each have several years of experience, apart from Keith Haws, who was recently brought on to the department.
- The department currently has one vacancy they are looking to fill.
