Greg Bobick has been hired as the new EMS Director for the Village of Questa, following the contentious exit of Raynelle Sanchez-Cordova from the role. We spoke with Bobick about this new opportunity and what he expects as he joins the community of Questa.
Bobick has an extensive resume in public service in New Mexico. He started with the Santa Fe County fire and EMS department, where he worked for twelve years. He moved on to work for Sandoval County as a battalion chief for several years, then made his way north to work for Angel Fire as their fire chief. He has also spent some time with Jemez Pueblo Fire and has also worked administratively for Superior Ambulance as a quality improvement manager.
Bobick loves living in northern New Mexico with his wife, who is a native New Mexican. Growing up, Bobick was a self-proclaimed “military brat” but considers himself a New Mexican, having lived in the state for 30 years now.
When asked why he felt he would be a good fit for this role in Questa, he says, “I saw this as a tremendous opportunity to use all that I’ve learned in my career to benefit the department and the greater community of Questa. I believe my job is to serve and help the staff do their jobs to the best of their abilities and that is my goal in this new role,” Bobick says.
When asked about his leadership style, Bobick responds with the acronym C.H.I.E.F.S. to describe his leadership style. The letters stand for: communication, honesty, integrity, effective, flexible, and servant’s heart. “These are all qualities I believe I embody in my leadership approach and I intend to bring this to my role with the Village of Questa,” he says.
When asked if he was concerned with integrating into this role, with the recent emotional response to his predecessor leaving, Bobick said, “I had nothing to do with what transpired in the past. My goal is to look toward the future. How can we build trust and work together effectively to ensure the people of Questa are in good hands—that is my priority. I am a professional and that’s how I intend to do this job.”
Bobick starts with the Village of Questa on Monday, March 3.
