After many months of cleanup and repairs following a February flood from burst pipes beneath the building, the Questa Public Library officially reopened its doors to the public on Monday, June 16.
The flood caused significant water damage throughout the building, requiring extensive renovations. The most visible repairs included carpet replacement in both the old and new sections of the library, along with new flooring in the front desk area, the librarian’s office, and all restrooms. In the library’s older section, approximately a foot of drywall along the lower walls had to be removed and replaced. Several bookshelves were also lost and have since been replaced. Additionally, furniture from the children’s section sustained damage and was replaced.
Local contractors and library staff have worked diligently to restore the space and ensure it is once again a safe and comfortable place for the community.
Residents are encouraged to stop by, explore the newly renovated space, and continue supporting this vital community resource. The library is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
