The Questa Varsity Volleyball Team is off to a strong start for the season. So far, the team has played five games and sits undefeated. The team is currently in 1st place in the 2A district.
In their August 20 game against Cuba, the team won 3-0. They went on to play Menaul on August 22 and won 3-1. Questa was defeated by Menaul in the state playoffs last season, but the team showed a strong upper hand in this match up.
The team went on to play in a tournament on August 31. They matched up against Mora and beat the Rangerettes 3-0. They played McCurdy and won 3-1. They played Centennial on September 6, bringing home another sweeping win of 3-0.
This seasons players performing strongly this season are #13 Alianna Gonzalez coming in with 28 kills and 6 blocks so far this season. The national average for high school volleyball players this far into a season is 17 kills and 4 blocks.
#25 Alexis Brown is also showing up strong having served 26 aces so far this year and 77 digs. The national average for serving aces is 6 and for 26 for digs.
#2 Alyana Leon has 75 assists so far this season. The national average is 16. #20 Kiara Arellano has had 38 receptions with the national average being 28.
The Questa Volleyball team will play next on Tuesday, September 10 at 6 p.m. against the Dulce Hawks at home. Dulce’s record is currently 3-1.
