Red River Shop Adds Homemade Ice Cream to the Menu

A favorite local shop in the mountain town of Red River is expanding its offerings just in time for summer.
Li’l Willie’s Shenanigans, known for its sweets, gifts and small-town charm, has added homemade ice cream to its menu. Owners Kelley and Steve Cherry began serving their handcrafted flavors this May, marking a major milestone for the shop, which opened March 1, 2019.

The couple attended an “Ice Cream Boot Camp” to refine their recipes and ensure their frozen treats meet official standards. “Ice cream isn’t just about flavor—it’s about specifics,” Kelley Cherry said. “To be officially called ice cream, it has to meet a specific butterfat content. That’s where the richness comes from.”

To celebrate the new addition, the Cherry’s launched a community contest inviting locals to either submit a custom flavor idea or name a new creation. Participants receive 10% off a future ice cream purchase, and the first 50 entries will earn a free mini-scoop during a taste test event to be announced later.

The expanded menu also includes flavored teas, house-made jerky and other summer snacks. A newly remodeled kitchen and a professional-grade ice cream machine are already drawing excitement from the community.
“We’re pouring our hearts into this,” Kelley Cherry said. “We’re thrilled to share our homemade ice cream with everyone.”

Li’l Willie’s Shenanigans is located in the heart of Red River at 410 W. Main Street. For more information, contact Kelley and Steve Cherry at (575) 770-5678 or visit their https://www.facebook.com/Lil-Willies-Shenanigans
