“Refuse to Provide” Campaign, and a Music Festival!

Have you noticed the signs around town that say “Refuse to Provide?” The Vida Del Norte Coalition, in partnership with other Taos County groups, have created this campaign to remind adults not to provide alcohol to minors.

Phase 2 of the campaign will launch with a back-to-school music festival in Questa. on August 21 from 2 to 7 pm. Gates open at 1:30. This non-alcohol and drug-free event aims to start to change cultural norms, showing the community and our kids that you don’t need drugs or alcohol to have a good time. The Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is our partner. Bands include our Mariachis Cielo and UZ.

Help support our kids and redefine the word “Party!” Tickets are $7 for adults and free for kids under 18, on sale online at www.vidadelnorte.com, or at the gate. Look for the Active8 youth selling tickets around town, too. Funds raised will go toward the local skatepark our youth have requested. There will be food and beverages available for purchase at the event. (No outside food or beverages will be permitted.) Please bring a chair and also some shade if you like. Join us at 64 Gallegos Road, across from the old La Cienega School and gym. For more information, contact Maria Gonzalez at (575) 779-2260.
