Questa locals know something that doesn’t always make the headlines: communities are strongest when neighbors show up for one another.
That spirit is exactly what Questa Connects: Volunteer Night is all about. On Friday, Mar. 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Questa VFW, the LOR Foundation will host local service organizations and community members for an evening focused on exploring new ways to serve the community.
The goal is simple: create space for local groups to share what they do and the kind of volunteer help they need, while offering community members the opportunity to discover causes that match their interests, skills, and availability. The event is designed to be welcoming and low-pressure, with table space, refreshments, and a relaxed, come-and-go environment focused on real conversations rather than formal presentations.
For organizations, this is a chance to share your mission, meet potential volunteers, and build relationships with community members who share your values. For community members, this is a chance to think intentionally about how you want to show up for Questa. Whether you have an hour a month or want to dive deeper into a cause, there is a place for you.
This event also connects to something bigger. Across the country, the America Gives initiative is working toward a bold goal: making 2026 the largest year of volunteerism in U.S. history as part of America’s 250th anniversary. The initiative encourages individuals, businesses, and organizations to pledge service hours, track their impact, and celebrate the ways people strengthen their communities. There are even national incentives, including a sweepstakes where winners can direct donations to nonprofits they care about and recognition programs that honor local service. Of course, here in Questa, volunteerism isn’t new. It’s part of who we are. In a community where resources can be limited, people step up to make things happen — for youth programs, beloved community events, local traditions, and neighbors in need of emergency support. Questa Connects is about building on that legacy and making it easier for people to find their place in the work of strengthening this village we call home.
If you’re part of an organization that needs volunteers, consider participating. If you’re a community member, come curious! Because the future of Questa isn’t built by one organization or one program. It’s built by people who care enough to show up.
Organizations interested in getting involved can contact Maria Gonzalez at the LOR Foundation by Monday, March 9, to learn more or reserve a table. Space is limited, and spots will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Community members are encouraged to attend, bring a friend, and explore where their time and talents can make a difference. Join us on Mar. 27, 2026 and be part of what comes next for Questa.
