The Father Al Muñiz Story
The picturesque San Luis Valley is located in the heart of Southern Colorado. Its residents are descendants of the Spanish conquistadors whose families have lived here for hundreds of years. Our community’s rich cultural traditions have been passed on from generation to generation.
The story of Father Alfonso Muñiz begins in Capulín, a small town in the western part of the San Luis Valley. This documentary highlights what it was like growing up in Colorado’s San Luis Valley in the early 1930s.
After a recording career as a Country and Western singer and a stint in the US Air Force, Al Muñiz became a priest in the Sacred Heart Order.
