Several locals teamed up to host a fundraising dance to benefit the Questa and Cerro VFWs on March 1 at Questa’s Monte Carlo Grill.
“A group of us locals were sitting, drinking coffee at Rael’s Coffee Shop one day and decided it would be good to organize a pre-Lent fundraiser dance to benefit our local VFWs,” says Questeña and Village of Questa Councilwoman Louise Gallegos.
The group enlisted Questa native Michael Gaillour and his band “Vintage Underground” to play for the dance. Gaillour’s band has performed for several benefit dances in the Questa area, most recently for the Rectory Fundraiser in November of last year.
A silent auction was held to help raise additional funds. The event was an incredible success, raising $2,110 total. Our two VFWs: Questa Post 7688 and Cerro Post 9516 received $1,055 each.
Cashier’s checks were delivered on Monday, March 3 to the Cerro VFW and Wednesday, March 12 to the Questa VFW.
“The group would like to thank everyone who helped plan, donate items for the silent auction, those who purchased the items and those who participated in any way. Also, the people who attended and made this fundraiser a great success,” says Gallegos. She continued, “Please remember to keep our veterans in your prayers, those who have served and those who are currently serving in our military. May God bless you all and God bless America.”
