Taos County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media the recovery of the body of an elderly man near Des Montes on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The body was located by a hiker Monday, Feb. 13 on a trail in the Turley Mill area of Des Montes. Due to an incoming snowstorm and timing of the report, the recovery of the body didn’t take place until Tuesday, Feb. 14 when it was safe to do so. Deputies from the Taos County Sheriff’s Office along with three Hondo-Seco Fire & Rescue volunteers recovered the body of the elderly male late on Tuesday.
The cause of death as well as the identity of the man is pending an investigation by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
