The Grill at El Monte Carlo Second in Statewide Green Chile Cheeseburger Contest


The Grill at El Monte Carlo placed second in the Green Chile Cheeseburger Contest on Monday Sept. 8 at the New Mexico State Fair.


The Grill at El Monte Carlo was the only restaurant representing northern New Mexico at the competition. Nine other restaurants were in attendance, including

  • Downshift Brewing Co. – Lincoln County
  • Fuego 505 – Bernalillo County
  • Craft Republic – Bernalillo County
  • Owl Café, Albuquerque – Bernalillo County
  • The Grill @ The Sheraton – Bernalillo County
  • Sparky’s Burgers, BBQ & Espresso – Dona Ana County
  • Isleta Grill – Isleta Pueblo
  • The Grill at El Monte Carlo – Taos County
  • Laguna Burger – Laguna Pueblo


The restaurant proudly showcased their participation on social media platforms touting their burger as the second best green chile cheeseburger in the state.


In 2024, first place went to Isleta Grill of Isleta Pueblo and second place went to Craft Republic of Albuquerque.
You can stop at the restaurant in Questa to try one of the best burgers in the State. The restaurant is located at 2435 NM-522 in Questa. The operating hours are:
Monday- Tuesday: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
Wednesday: 6 a.m.- 8:30 p.m.
Thursday-Friday: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
