Photo by Carrie Leven: JUNE 2021: COVER STORY Grand Opening Celebration of Questa History Trail on National Trails Day, by Staff Writers: The founders of Questa’s History Trail were amazed to learn just how much our remote village is a microcosm of northern New Mexico’s past. If you’ve not yet been introduced to the trail, you can be amazed by this local history yourself on Saturday, June 5, when local historian Flavio Cisneros leads a guided walk along the half-mile route.
Photo by Daniel Hutchison JULY 2021: COVER STORY Bud Wilson, Adventure and Service, by Daniel Hutchison: Bud Wilson was born in 1925 in the suburbs of Chicago, but forged his connection with northern New Mexico when he was just 16 years old, on a high school summer research trip to San Cristobal, NM. He worked as a ranch hand in the Latir area. The year was 1942, and he recalls that the highway turned to dirt at the New Mexico border!

Photo by Toner Mitchell NOVEMBER 2021: 4TH ANNUAL VETERANS ISSUE AWOL Angler, by Toner Mitchell: “In the military, you always have support and a common mission… Then you come home, and suddenly you’re searching for who you are.” Perhaps unwittingly, Dyer found his way back to fly fishing and decided to get good at it. He found that the harder he tried to master angling, the more thoughts of trout supplanted the stuff of his recurring nightmares. Fly fishing gave him something to look forward to, “a new horizon” as he puts it.
