A collision occurred between Red River and Questa involving two vehicles at approximately 3:45 pm, January 13. Two ambulances arrived on the scene about 15 minutes later, along with Taos County Sheriff vehicles.
According to a witness, a Toyota SUV was traveling down the mountain, on State Highway 38, toward Questa. As it rounded a curve in the road, a Subaru hatchback pulled onto the highway directly into its path.
Questa Emergency Medical Services (EMS) told Questa del Rio News that a total of three people, two in the Subaru and one in the Toyota, were transported to Holy Cross Hospital with injuries, and all are recovering. Damage to the Subaru was extensive. According to Questa EMS, those in the Subaru had parked on the highway sight-seeing, as there was wildlife in the area. When they attempted to get back on the road, they pulled onto the highway just as the Toyota was coming around the curve.
The Questa del Rio News wishes all drivers to be safe on the roads and to watch out for other drivers as well as wildlife.
