New Staff Sworn in at Village of Questa

Dominic Martinez, Valerie Vigil and Karen Quintana Shannon were sworn into their respective positions of Village Administrator, Village Clerk and Finance Director by Judge Michael Rael. of Questa Village Clerk on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.


Mrs. Shannon started with the Village as Finance Director in July 2014. She is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Council every time there’s a Mayoral election. She has a Bachelor of Accountancy from the College of Santa Fe.


Mrs. Valerie Vigil is a native of Taos, a Taos High School graduate. She pursued her Bachelor’s degree at UNM in Albuquerque, majoring in psychology , with a minor in business management. She has lived and worked in Questa for about eight years, has two beautiful children, and a wonderful husband. She believes in giving back to her community. She began working for the Village as the Procurement Officer, and still does purchasing, in addition to her clerk duties. “I want my kids to grow up in a place that not only makes our family happy but can help them thrive too,” Mrs. Vigil said in an interview with the Questa del Rio News on June 15.


The Village Clerk’s primary duty is to catalog the Village Council meetings but the position works closely with the rest of the office to ensure smooth operations. The Clerk also functions as a human resources position and works closely with the Village Administrator.


Mrs. Vigil explained that her main goal as the Village Clerk is to “help Questa grow in a good manner and to help bring more revenue to the local businesses here.” She encourages people to come to the Village and be heard.


Dominic Martinez is a native of Taos County, a Taos High School graduate (1993) with 20 years of experience in law enforcement. The Village Administrator’s primary duty is to work closely with the Mayor to oversee general operations at the Village offices. Mr. Martinez explained that his main goal at the Village is to “make the administration more efficient and basically make sure we’re progressing.”
