In the autumn of 2017, eight hopeful and bold residents of Questa came together to create a platform supporting the Arts and Creativity, Culture and History in our unique corner of the world. At that time the mine had recently closed, St. Anthony’s had recently been restored, and a new plan for redevelopment called for the Arts to add its magic to our economy. Dynamic volunteers made it happen.

Eight-plus years later, the Questa Creative Council’s volunteer board still includes many of our founders and a few much-appreciated new hands. We are young and older, male and female, from historical family lines and from distant locales where much relevant experience was gained.

And we depend on the support of you, our neighbors.

The Arts add significantly to the economy of New Mexico, rivaling the state’s construction industry and its mining industry when it comes to jobs. Sixty percent of all visits to our state include outdoor activity and purchases of art. All of this by way of affirming Questa’s focus on our beautiful outdoors and on the financial benefits of highlighting the Arts. Given our unique cultural traditions, living history and continuing local lifestyles that build on creative and artistic endeavors, Questa is well placed to continue benefiting from this focus!

Despite this importance to our rural economy, federal funding for the arts has now been much reduced. We must streamline our efforts, work to find different funding sources, and hope that our experience serves our artist participants even better in the meanwhile. A membership drive is taking place right now through May, in time for our event season to begin. We have a goal of raising $5,000 from the community. Memberships start at just $10 and are vital to us.

Our annual Membership levels:

• ‘Friend’ – $10; We thank you. Our smallest donations add up to a lot!
• ‘Collaborator’ – $25; Those who can give a bit more are appreciated.‘Supporter’ – $50; Larger donation gives us the matching funds we need for grant applications.
• ‘Sponsor’ – $100; We can breathe easier and plan more dynamic programs.
• ‘Advertising Sponsor’ – $200; Your name or logo will appear in our publicity, if desired!
