Water rates officially increasing

The Village of Questa Council held a public hearing to discuss the issues of water rates with the Questa public, but no one appeared to speak.
“I don’t want anyone to think we’re making decisions without any input from the public,” said Mayor John Ortega.
After Village Administrator Karen Shannon read the Water and Sewer Ordinance to the Council, and Council passed it unanimously. Before the water rate increase, Questa had the lowest water rates in the state at $19.76 for residents. That has been increased to $26.80, an increase of $7.04. The new rates reflect the true cost of providing water and sewer services to the Village.
