The Questa Wildcats closed January on a high note, grinding out a 37–33 victory over McCurdy (Jan. 31) to build momentum heading into the heart of district play.
The win capped a challenging month for the Wildcats, who sit at 7–12 overall and 1–3 in district competition after facing a tough slate of opponents.
Questa opened January with a 56–45 loss to Roy/Mosquero, followed by a 62–40 setback against Springer. District play proved demanding as the Wildcats fell to Escalante 68–37 and dropped a 45–33 decision to McCurdy earlier in the month. A competitive contest against Dulce ended in a 64–54 loss.
The Wildcats responded with a dominant 58–12 win over Antonito before earning a statement road victory against Clayton in overtime, 67–62. That momentum was slowed by losses to Escalante (52–32), Mora (60–26) and Mesa Vista (65–40).
Questa rebounded once again to close the month, holding off McCurdy in a low-scoring defensive battle to secure a much-needed district win.
The Wildcats will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup when they face Escalante on the road Feb. 3.
