As a new school year begins in Questa, teachers, administrators, coaches, parents, and students—like you!—are full of fresh energy, goals, and ideas.
Maybe you noticed a challenge last year that could have been solved with the right resources. Maybe you see an opportunity to start a new program, strengthen an existing one, or give students new ways to learn, connect, and grow. Maybe there’s something you’ve always wished existed in your classroom or community but haven’t known where to start.
LOR is here to help turn those ideas into action.
Over the next two years, LOR will continue working alongside people in Questa to support local solutions—including projects that strengthen education and create new opportunities for students of all ages. And you don’t need nonprofit or grant-writing experience, or even a fully developed proposal, to get started! Every project starts with a simple conversation.
In the past year, local educators, school leaders, and community partners have already brought forward ideas that are making a difference. A $9,900 grant to Red River Valley Charter School helped purchase new desks, chairs, and cafeteria tables to better serve its growing enrollment. An $8,997 grant to the Questa Independent School District expanded hands-on outdoor learning by providing equipment that supports field-based education. And a $10,000 grant to Friends of the Questa Public Library is creating new literacy opportunities for teens through curated reading boxes designed to encourage reading beyond the classroom.
Each of these projects started because someone saw an opportunity and stepped forward to help.
