OBITUARY: Aida Isabel Trujillo

Aida Isabel Trujillo, 97, a lifelong resident of Questa, passed away in her casita surrounded by her loving family on January 11, 2024. Isabel was the middle child born to Miguel and Christina Velasquez on February 19, 1926. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lino Trujillo and her four brothers; Erlindo Velasquez (Margie), Joe Velasquez (Cora), Charlie Velasquez (Patsy), and Tito Velasquez; and two nephews: Lawrence (Chopo) Velasquez and Andrew Velasquez.


Isabel was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed preparing and sharing delicious meals, working puzzles by the fire, attending mass, and praying the rosary. She treasured spending time with family and friends and especially loved to share stories about life in her beloved Questa.


She is survived by her children: Jack Lino Trujillo (Twana) and Angel J. Chamberlain (Chip); grandchildren: Alexander Trujillo (Audra), Samantha Chamberlain Lane (Jake), Valerie Trujillo and Gavin Chamberlain; great-grandchild: Ada Trujillo; Sister/Niece: Tina Martinez (Don “Ojos Azules”); A dear family friend and her “Hijo Mayor” George Montoya (Janice), sister-in-law: Okie Velasquez and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.


A rosary was recited on Saturday, January 27th at 9:00am followed by Mass of Christian burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Questa with burial which followed at El Pueblito Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Isabel’s memory to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Rectory Building Fund, P.O. Box 200, Questa, NM 87556.
