Phillips 66 Gas Stations in Questa Sold to Colorado Buyer

The Phillips 66 gas stations, at both the north and south locations in Questa, have been sold to a new owner from Colorado. The previous owners, Juan and Ayla Cisneros, said they made the decision after careful consideration, citing a desire to spend more time with their family.

The Cisneroses had previously declined an offer from a buyer about a year ago. However, a recent offer from a buyer who owns a chain of gas stations and convenience stores in Colorado came at a time when the family was feeling the strain of managing three businesses while raising a family and staying involved in the community
“Ultimately, we wanted more time with our kids. They are growing up so fast, and it has been a juggling act the past five years to keep on top of everything,” Ayla Cisneros said. Juan Cisneros added, “We weren’t planning on selling, but the opportunity to free up more time for our family was intriguing and came at the right time.” The buyer, Varun Rati of Denver, expressed interest in expanding his business operations into Questa. He assured the Cisneros family that he intends to maintain the stores’ current identity and ensure a smooth transition.

Juan Cisneros said he sees the sale as a positive development for the town. “I think it’s a great thing that people are interested in Questa and can see that economic opportunity and potential in Questa. I think it is a very good sign for Questa.”

The Cisneroses emphasized the vital role gas stations play in providing essential goods and services to the community and expressed hope that residents will continue to support the new owner. “I think the community owns the stations more than anybody, and we’ll still get to be a part of that,” Juan said.
To ensure a smooth transition, the new owner plans to retain the current employees and maintain current operations from Denver. The Cisneroses also expressed gratitude for their staff, highlighting the growth and development of longtime employees such as Estrella Elam. “We’ve seen her grow from stocking goods to now being able to run the complex systems of the store,” Juan said.

Juan and Ayla Cisneros also thanked the residents of Questa, Cerro, Costilla, Amalia, and surrounding communities for their support over the years. “Ultimately, our greatest thanks goes to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all the opportunities and life he has provided us,” they said. The stations have a new Facebook profile titled Phillip’s 66 Discount Stations 1 & 2. Be sure to give them a like to keep up with updates on the new stores. Managers of the locations say they are being kept on to manage and improve the stores. All staff are being kept on as well.
